INTRODUCTION

The site StopGettingHosed.com is here to make you a wiser consumer, not just from a purchasing perspective but a financial one, and hopefully a more environmental aware human being. I see a link between these three areas and I am hoping you will too in time. On this site I will be discussing a large range of topics. So please treat this site like an education hub where you will be expanding your knowledge in all that is frugal.

The articles I have written are to be very general in nature. My reasoning is things are constantly changing but the process rarely does. So for me to mention a location or place would make the article obsolete pretty quickly. I prefer to mention the path and what I have learned and hoping you will take this information and do your own research on the topics mentioned in my articles. But what I will do is have a link section that will only display what I feel is worthy to be on this site and can provide you with education that is life changing.

The types of topics will include a large range of subjects, because becoming frugal is not just looking for the best deal. Their is more involved to be frugal, you need to look at financing, DIY (Do It Yourself) projects, Organization, Environment and tons of other off the wall subjects including finding those deals! I can’t emphasize how important it is to look outside that realm of thinking. For me that is the secret of being frugal. Where you see an opportunity in a place were their was none before.

Now let me go into more detail of what I am hoping to cover in the next months to years. My personal favorite financing nothing is more important then balancing your books and knowing where your money is going. But just not even that learning to live within your means. We will talk about this subject in quite a few articles because I don’t think you can explain it one document. DIY projects and maintenance can save you large bucks from full renovations, to car maintenance. There is a lot of self-help on the internet, libraries and some big box stores always have the seminars. We will go through this thoroughly to make sure you are comfortable. It’s not for everyone, but I am convinced with a little confidence and training you can do almost anything. Organization is a great time and money saver. This leads me to auctions, garage sales and related. After you have organized and noticed how much crap you have stock piled, you soon realize you don’t need, why not sell it? Make some money.

See what I mean being frugal also means living with what you only need and not let your impulses control you desire. So being aware of what you have and what you really need. Think before you buy.

Coupons, Emails and Online Deals, deserve a section itself, the treasure trove of freebees and discounts are endless. I would also like to write some articles on home and auto insurance. Insurance is very critical piece of your financial planning and you need to know how much you will need, that is the key. Finally another subject that hits home is mortgages this is something you should always review almost religiously and find the best rates.

So for now enjoy the site and happy learning. As usual I always love comments or even suggestions on what you would love to see. Feel free to respond either through the forum or email. It’s all appreciated; we are all here to learn from our mistakes and/or accomplishments.  Our goal is to make ourselves a more wise and frugal person.
