THE PERFECT LAWN, THE
NATURAL WAY
People for many, many years have been trying to beautify their lawns, some met with success and some without. But now with the world talking environment and health, we all want to do our part and hopefully not costing us a lot. Well below is the plan I use and is fairly cheap if not cheaper then pesticides.
This is my ritual I implement every year around April/May depending on the weather and it has not failed me. It’s a bit more work but well worth it. Plus you will find some tips that also work well and highly recommend you follow it to the letter. But please due to climates in different areas adjust it to suite your zone. A little research of your area also could help improve your situation.
The Recipe
There are many recipes out there that suggest it will provide a lush and green turf but I found out this is the best one. It was passed by word of mouth and if you want the full recipe as per the original owner hit the following site. You will find a video which may help.

My Version of Fat Grass
Basically follow the recipe above but one difference. I dethatch my lawn for that I picked up a dethatching blade for about 6 bucks that attaches to my lawnmower. Once done I soak the grass and lay seeds. Then I follow the recipe to the letter. I also highly recommend you water constantly for about two weeks to breakdown the peat moss. This alone has improved my grass 100%. You will notice your grass s a dark green pretty much all summer.
Mow Smart
Cut your grass at 2.5 to 3 inched this will block out the light for weeds. Also think about using a push mower this will cut the grass cleanly. Oh and keep your blade sharp this will make your lawn healthier.
Watering
Water once a week and in the morning this will also reduce pests in your lawn and promote a healthier lawn.
Clean your Lawn
Keep your lawn free of debris and dead plants. Don’t give pests a chance to move in.
Corn Gluten
Use Corn Gluten, it keeps weeds away. Check your local garden centre’s for info.
Testing you Soil
Check your PH balance it maybe off. Also ask your garden centre for info.
Nematodes
Nematode (microscopic-sized worms) kills grubs and related bugs. Place around August to mid September
Do a bit a research and find out what works in your area. You would be amazed what will work. All the best with your lawn endeavors and hoping you find a solution that fits you.
